Linzen apple pie

There are many types of recipes for pies and crusts.

I would like to share our old family recipe with you.

It’s combination of apples and linzen dought.

This pie is very delicious and very easy to make.

Just follow the recipe and you will be surprised how tasty this pie is.

Definitely worth a try!!!
DOUGH:

600 g (4 ½ cups) all-purpose flour

160 g (¾ cup) powdered sugar

1 lemon – peel and juice

250 g (1 1/8 cups) butter

¼ cup milk

2 large eggs

½ teaspoons phosphate-free baking powder

FILLING:

4 pounds (8 to 10 pieces) rated apples

3/4 cup icing sugar

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, add only if you have very juicy apples)

1/4 cup wallnuts or pecans

This recipe fits to a 12” round mold.
DIRECTION:

Put all the ingredients into the food processor, dry ingredients first.

Add the remaining wet ingredients and mix a smooth dough.

Divide dough in half and transfer each to a piece of plastic wrap;

cover, and press each into a disk.

Refrigerate until firm, at least 2 hour.

Meanwhile, prepare the apple filling.

Peel the apples and grate them on a coarse grater.

You can cut it if you prefer bigger pieces.

Add sugar to taste, cinnamon, nuts and raisins,

which you can pre-soak in rum, and mix everything together.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (360°F).

Remove the dough from the refrigerator.

Divide the dough into 2 parts.

Keep one part out and put the other back in the fridge.

Roll out the first part of the dough to the size of the baking sheet

or mold in which you will bake the pie.

To make it easier to work with,

roll the dough between two pieces of baking paper.

Once rolled out, transfer on rolling pin to a mold.

Pour the apple filling on the dough and

roll out the second part of the dough.

Place the other part on the apples and press the edges together.

Cut in the middle to allow air to escape.

Brush the dought with egg wash.

Bake for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.

Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool in the mold.

HAPPY BAKING 🙂
